The Botero Museum Curator of Bogotá was made by Fernando Botero himself with the support of María Elvira Escallón and José Ignacio Roca.

One of the clauses of the donation, was that any donated work could be borrowed or changed location after hanging. Therefore, the assembly of the works is maintained as it was decided by Botero.

The Botero Museum was created with the aim of exhibiting the personal collection of the Botero teacher, donated by himself in the year 2000 in a gesture of great generosity addressed to all Colombians and foreigners who visit our country. In the Museum there are 85 works of important international artists of different artistic currents, such as Gypsy with tambourine by Jean Baptiste Camille-Corot, Landscape of L'Ile de France, by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Nude with chair by Pierre Bonnard, The clown Marc Chagall flyer, Women of gallant life by Paul Delvaux, Carolina on a white background by Alberto Giacometti, The red disc chasing the lark of Joan Miró, Two reclining figures of Henry Moore, among others. To all the above is joined the magnificent collection of works of authorship by Fernando Botero.

More than 120 works including paintings, drawings and sculptures by the master are on display on the western side of the Museum.
