Private South West Tour from Funchal

After pickup at 9am or 1pm at your hotel or the port in Funchal, you'll head to Pico dos Barcelos, a beautiful viewpoint sitting at a height of 1,164ft (355m), looking over Funchal bay and the city area, with the Desertas Islands set in the background. After some substantial improvements that were made, the viewpoint offers green and commercial areas where restaurants and local crafts can be found.

Next, drive up through the mountains to arrive at Cabo Girao. The village is situated on the highest promontory in Europe at a height of 1,902ft (580m), famously known for its suspended glass skywalk (free admission). It may only be for the brave but amazing views can be had along the coast including views into the town of Camara de Lobos.

Visit Camara de Lobos, a pretty fishing town specializing in the fishing of the night dwelling Scabbard fish. Enjoy the picturesque location filled with colorful fishing boats set along a gray beach with views of the high cliffs in the background. The views inspired the towns most famous resident, Winston Churchill, who painted his celebrated pictures of the region.

Finally, before returning to your hotel or the port, the tour will end with a visit of Ribeira Brava. Take a stroll around the central plaza and see the small church, Ingreja de Sao Bento and its stunning interior featuring beautiful chandeliers and artwork.
